No multiplayer announcement

Metro 2039 does not have an announced multiplayer or co-op mode. Steam’s category list for app 2590240 is single-player. Xbox’s feature list is single player as well. Deep Silver calls it a single-player story. A later free update could add modes, but no such mode is named.

I checked the Steam categories field and the Xbox feature list on 16 October 2026 instead of a comment section. Both say single-player. The series history matches that: 2033, Last Light, and Exodus shipped as single-player campaigns. History is context, not a contract, so the store text is the evidence.

Why a crowded screenshot is not co-op

Trailers show other people: soldiers, a station crowd, Hunter. Those are characters in a single-player scene. Co-op would be a second player in the session, and no store page offers that.

The official FAQ says a post-launch roadmap will include free updates and that no further paid DLC is planned beyond what Deluxe already lists. It does not say those updates add multiplayer.

Questions

Can I play Metro 2039 with a friend?

No co-op mode has been announced.

Did earlier Metro games have multiplayer?

The main campaigns were single-player. That pattern fits 2039’s store text, and it is not a guarantee about updates.

Is there PvP?

Not announced.
